The brief was to realise the client’s ambition to create their dream home. However, the site is in the Green Belt. The strategy firstly involved seeking a prior approval for an additional storey, followed by a further prior approval for an 8m deep extension attached to the rear elevation, then a certificate of lawfulness for a proposed detached outbuilding comprising a swimming pool and gym, a further certificate of lawfulness for a proposed  single storey side extension, a pre-application and finally a full planning application for a replacement dwelling.
